FAQ

Why sealcoat?
Sealcoating your asphalt does 3 things: Protects, Beautifies, and Saves. It PROTECTS your asphalt from rain, snow, salt and other elements that deteriorate your asphalt, giving it a longer lifetime. It BEAUTIFIES your home or business by giving the asphalt a nice dark black finish. Most importantly, it SAVES you money by extending the life of your asphalt, eliminating the need for expensive repaving.

What type of sealer does ALL OUT Sealcoat use?
ALL OUT Sealcoat promises to use the finest, highest quality products on the market, all of which are approved by the Federal Aviation Administration for use on airport runways. Our special ALL OUT product contains Coal Tar sealer mixed with polymer modified latex additives to improve durability and we add 3-5 pounds/gallon of silica sand to provide a non-slip surface.

How often should I sealcoat my asphalt? The typical home or business-owner should sealcoat their surfaces every two years. All asphalt surfaces are different and need to be assessed individually. Harsh winters with a lot of snow, ice, and salt, can deteriorate a surface and cause it to require more frequent sealcoating. If you have not sealcoated in more than seven years, you may need to sealcoat annually for a few years. If it is a surface being sealcoated for the first time, it will absorb more sealer and you will need to sealcoat again the following year.

How much will I save by keeping up with a proper sealcoating maintenance program?
Sealcoating your asphalt surfaces will increase their durability and longevity. Here is a chart showing the savings associated with proper sealcoat maintenance.

What should I look for in a sealcoat contractor?
Sealcoat contractors should be fully-insured and have full worker's compensation. Ask for references or pictures of previous work. There are many contractors who operate in the short term, attempting to make quick money on one-time customers. ALL OUT Sealcoat prioritizes customer service, striving to provide an experience that creates repeat business. If you have any questions or concerns before, during, or after the job, we will be there to address any issues.

Will a sealcoat make my asphalt look perfectly new again?
Sealcoating is important to maintain your asphalt and give it a fresh look, but it is not a miracle cure. Sealcoating will protect your asphalt and improve its image, but it will not completely re-level the surface. We provide crack-filling services for cracks 1/4" or greater, but shallow cracks will be coated by the sealer. If we observe that the asphalt is in very poor condition and sealcoating will not be beneficial, we will be honest and suggest a reputable paving contractor for you.

How long do I wait to sealcoat my new asphalt surface?
You should wait about one year from when the new asphalt was applied. The asphalt needs time to cure and for the oils to oxidize so that the sealer will adhere properly. It is important to sealcoat within the first two years to prevent the bare asphalt from wearing too early.

How is the sealcoat applied?
There are TWO Major styles of application in the Sealcoating Industry: 1.) Brush Application & 2.) Spray Application. We believe and know that the best way to apply sealer is by BRUSH APPLICATION. When applying sealer with a brush, it insures that the sealer is being spread consistently and you are working the sealcoat into the asphalt better than compared to just spraying it on. In the Industry, Spraying is used on large commercial parking lots and requires TWO COATINGS. Many sealcoaters will spray just ONE COAT because it is quicker and they will use less material compared to brushing. Spraying is also very dangerous because a quick gust of wind or a slip of the wand can result in sprayed sealer all over your house, garage door, car, etc. ALL OUT Sealcoat chooses to take our time with a 6 STEP SEALCOATING SOLUTION SYSTEM that assures everyone that we do it the proper way by BRUSH applying the sealer to every square inch of your asphalt.
